The Youth Sector Leaders Huddle is a quarterly forum hosted by the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic). It provides leaders across the youth sector with a space to connect, share insights, and collaborate on key issues and advocacy efforts that strengthen outcomes for young people.

What to expect

The Youth Sector Leaders Huddle is designed for information sharing, peer support, to discuss key issues, and explore collective action/advocacy – for the immediate emergency and the long-term wellbeing and advancement of young people.

The next Youth Sector Leaders Huddle is:

  • Tuesday 24th March, 9.30am to 10.30am - featuring guest speaker Andrea Davidson from the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).

About the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU)

The VRU was established to prevent violent crime through early intervention, evidence‑based decision‑making and strong community partnerships. Its approach is grounded in proactive public‑health principles, drawing on proven international models from Glasgow and London and adapted to meet the needs of Victorian communities.

What this session will cover

Andrea’s session will explore:

  • The foundations of a public‑health approach to violence reduction
  • The VRU operating model—its scope, structure and objectives
  • Key VRU priorities through to 2026
  • Engagement with young people, communities and key stakeholders
  • Q&A

Lauren Frost (she/her), YACVic's Advocacy Manager, will provide an update on recent developments and upcoming opportunities for advocacy in the youth sector.
