What to expect
YACVic are currently undergoing the process to upgrade two of our key sector-leading resources: Youth Engagement Resource Platform (YERP) and the Code of Ethical Practice for the Victoria Youth Sector (the Code). These resources aim to ensure that young people and the youth sector can work together in a safe and effective way. The session will explore topics that impact First Nations young people and sector workers to ensure they will be reflected accurately and respectfully within the upgrade projects.
You don't need to have prior knowledge of YERP or the Code, just have an interest in youth participation and the youth sector!
This online, interactive session will use the platform Miro to allow you to participate in a range of different activities. Along with your ticket you will be sent instructions on how to use Miro, please create an account on Miro prior to the session.
We want to hear your perspectives on topics such as:
- Inclusive youth work practices,
- Acknowledging Aboriginal culture,
- Cultural safety,
- Barriers to participation,
- Lived experience and peer work.
If you can’t attend but would like to arrange a one-to-one discussion please contact MSackson@YACVic.org.au and we can arrange an alternative time to connect.
Who should attend?
This discussion is open to First Nations young people (aged between 15 - 25) and First Nations workers (including young employees and young peer workers) and those working with First Nations young people.
What will you get out of this opportunity?
This online discussion is voluntary and free to attend and we will offer remuneration (volunteer payment) of $100 to all attendees. You can select a direct bank transfer or an eGiftCard.
