Beyond Borders: Breaking Down the Silos is a one- day forum exploring the critical role of partnership, shared vision, and coordinated action in strengthening regional youth sector systems, grounded in the principles of collective impact.

Incorporating youth work best practice and a strong commitment to child safety, this event highlights the importance of inclusive, ethical, and culturally responsive approaches. Designed to both challenge and inspire, the day will support workers to reflect on existing barriers, spotlight regional innovation in youth participation, and identify opportunities for deeper collaboration across the sector.

What to expect

Beyond Borders will explore how regional communities can address the siloing of services and programs for young people, bringing together workers across the Southern Mallee and from a range of experience, and building our sector's capacity and confidence to advocate for meaningful change in our communities.

Featuring keynote speaker and Churchill Fellow, Katie Acheson, along with a local panellist discussion and interactive workshops, the day is designed to challenge and inspire. Attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on local barriers, celebrate what’s working, and develop practical strategies for deeper collaboration.

Come to learn, share, connect and leave with a plan for working together for young people in your community.

Who should attend?

This event is for people who work or volunteer with young people in the Southern Mallee and surrounding areas, providing an opportunity to hear from regional young people, learn from experts and peers, and grow your partnerships and networks.

This one-day forum will see doors open for registration at 9:00 AM for a 9:30 AM start, and finish by 3:30 PM, with catering provided thanks to Charlton College VET Hospitality Program.

We extend our sincere thanks to North Central Local Learning Employment Network and KD Solutions for their partnership in bringing together nuanced, place-based opportunities.
