Our 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) is coming up on Thursday 26 November and we have three open positions on the YACVic Board.
Nominations are now open! We have:
- two designated young person positions. You must be a YACVic member aged 18–25 and have been a member for at least one year.
- one position open to a YACVic member (any age).

Here’s how it works
Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is the peak body and leading policy advocate for young people and the youth sector in Victoria. A volunteer Board governs our organisation and helps guide its strategic direction.
Our vision is that the rights of young people in Victoria are respected, and that young people are active, visible and valued in their communities. Our mission is to propel action that inspires positive change for young people and the youth sector.
Who’s on the Board?
Our Board is made up of – and elected by – members like you. It brings together young people, youth sector professionals and passionate advocates. Directors serve a two-year term and meet regularly throughout the year to support YACVic’s governance and shape our strategic direction.
Why nominate yourself?
Joining the Board is a chance to make a practical difference. You’ll contribute to Victoria’s peak body for young people and the youth sector, champion youth participation, and help guide decisions on the issues that matter.
What’s the commitment?
Board members commit approximately 12 hours per month, although this may vary throughout the year. These are volunteer positions, so please read the nomination form carefully before applying.
No previous Board or governance experience is required. Bring your ideas, curiosity and commitment we’ll help with the rest.

Ali joined the Board in 2024 in a Young Person position and now serves as Chair. Here's what he has to say about his experience:
“I joined the board because I'm passionate about young people leading, thriving and having their voices heard in decision-making spaces - especially ones about them. I've seen how valued YACVic is and I wanted to contribute in my own way. It's honestly been a fantastic experience so far and I've learned so much about governance, strategy, financial stewardship, and how strong advocacy can transform the youth sector in Victoria.”
Ali, YACVic Board Chair
