Victoria is developing a new Youth Strategy

The Victorian Government is developing a new state-wide youth strategy to make our state the best place to be for young people. YACVic is supporting the government to ensure young people are at the heart of the new Youth Strategy.

In 2020 we supported young people to have a say and contribute at forums right across the state. We organised dedicated forums for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, International Students, Women and Girls, LGBTIQA+ young people, Pasifika young people, Refugee and Migrant young people and Disabled young people in collaboration with Centre for Multicultural Youth, Minus18, Koorie Youth Council, Plan International, Youth Disability Advocacy Service and YWCA Australia.

We also hosted forums right across the state to ensure that everyone could have a say and contribute to the future of Victoria:

  • Ovens Murray
  • Eastern Melbourne
  • South East Melbourne
  • Bayside Peninsula
  • Mallee
  • Golden Plains
  • Western Victoria
  • Central Highlands
  • Bendigo and Loddon
  • Goulburn
  • Gippsland and North East Victoria
  • Malmsbury and Parkville Youth Justice Centres
  • Northern Melbourne
  • Geelong and Surf Coast
  • Western Melbourne

What Comes Next

The Victorian Government is now considering ideas from hundreds of young people and community members across Victoria. The Youth Strategy is in development and is expected to be launched in mid-late 2021.
