 Join YACVic and Youthlaw for this special online webinar 'What do I do when...? Legal essentials for youth workers' on navigating the laws that apply to those who work with young people.

This highly interactive workshop provides workers with important tips to guide their decision-making when legal or ethical issues arise.

  • The duty of care that workers owe to clients
  • Rules around privacy and confidentiality
  • Reporting child abuse. 
  • Hypothetical scenarios designed to explore the legal and related ethical issues that commonly arise when working with young people.

This session is open to all, but designed for youth sector and community service workers who might need to talk to young people about legal issues.  

Background

This workshop features some roundtable discussion to inform Youthlaw's updating of 'What do I do when...?', a resource for youth workers and the youth sector offering easy to understand information to help workers feel at ease when dealing with the law and the legal system. Topics covered include Duty of care; Privacy and confidentiality; Working with police; and Court procedures. It also addresses common legal inquiries that young people often have.
