It is a challenging time for everyone, and I hope that you and your organisation are coping well with the challenges being thrown out by COVID-19.

As a community, we all have a part to play in caring for the health of colleagues, clients and stakeholders, at the same time as looking after ourselves and our families.

To help “flatten the curve” and minimise the spread of COVID-19, YACVic’s staff will be working from home after today, and our offices in Melbourne, Swan Hill and Warrnambool will be closed until further notice.

We will continue to keep our members updated on important information throughout this time with a weekly update and special bulletins as necessary, in addition to our fortnightly newsletter.

We will also be continuing our normal work as far as possible, making use of technology to keep connected, including advocating for recognition and action on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on young people.

Please continue to contact us via our normal emails and individual mobile numbers, or if you do not have our details please call the following numbers:

  • YACVic and YACVic Rural: 0437 088 384.
  • YDAS:  0438 638 734
  • Koorie Youth Council:  0439 927 405 or 0427 461 800

We recommend that young people and the youth sector, if feasible, takes similar actions. If you must continue to operate your office and/or services, please be vigilant on hygiene precautions and spatial (not social!) distancing.

Preparation on options for working remotely or flexibly will be important in case a lock-down does happen across the state. You can find more information and resources in our COVID-19 guide for young people and the youth sector.

Stay safe. Self-isolate if you are concerned about your health. And follow the instructions of health authorities.
