Join the National Children's Commissioner for lunch!

National Children’s Commissioner, Megan Mitchell, is visiting Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) to meet with children and young people, as part of a project on Child Safe Organisations. Megan is interested in speaking with children and young people under 18 to find out about their views concerning safety – what makes them feel safe and how they would like organisations to support them to feel safe.

The consultations are part of the Commissioner’s work on a National Statement of Principles for Child Safe Organisations. These are a set of principles to help improve organisations’ understanding of children’s rights and how to effectively work with children and young people to ensure they are and feel safe.

This is a free event and a light lunch will be provided.

We can reimburse transport costs and can arrange attendant support or interpreters upon request. Please contact Leah van Poppel on 0429 964 859 or with your access requirements.

All children and young people are welcome (parents/carers may attend as observers, as this is an event for children and young people to give their own views). We especially encourage children and young people who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, who are from refugee or migrant backgrounds, who have an experience of out-of-home care, and/or who have a disability, to join us. Because of limited space, we will prioritise the attendance of children and young people under 18.

Consent forms

Please complete this consent form if you are a young person, and this consent form if you are a parent/carer of a young person (under 18). Please send completed forms to Sam Champion at prior to the event.
