The opportunity

Are you already leading groups and workshops or is it something you’d like to do in the future?

Have you always wondered why some workshops work really well and others are super dullsville?

Would you like to learn some new skills for free?

YACVic is running a free two-part training for young people to learn and/or develop workshop facilitation skills. It’ll be delivered online via Zoom and spaces are limited so get your registration in early to secure a spot!

What will I get from this?

Develop skills and increase your knowledge in:Setting up the space (Acknowledgement of Country, Icebreakers, values and agreements)

  • Learning styles (how do I make a workshop effective for visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learners?)

  • Planning (where do I start, how do I write a runsheet?)
  • Group dynamics (thinking about individual need vs group need, how to encourage participation or to manage the big talkers in the group)
  • Questioning (how do I ask great questions to get the group thinking and talking)

What do I need to commit and participate?

  • Be aged 16 to 24
  • Attend two training sessions from 4-7pm on Tuesday 14 July and Thursday 16 July

FAQs

What happens after the training?

It’s no strings attached – you can use the skills and knowledge to go off and do your own thing but if you’re interested in getting more involved with YACVic then we’ll be keen to discuss potential paid facilitation gigs in some upcoming projects we have.

Who is this training for?

It’s for young Victorians 16-24 years old, who are either already leading or running groups/workshops or are interested in developing facilitation and workshop skills. If you live outside Victoria we’re sorry but you won’t be eligible.

Is it just for people living in Melbourne?

Heck no! We want young people from all over the state to take part so if you live in metro, regional or rural Victoria we’d encourage you to apply.

Is there an application process?

Yes, simply express your interest and we'll let you know whether you're in or not after the closing date.

Do I need to be a YACVic young member to take part?

No but we always prioritise young members and so encourage you to sign up if you haven’t already. It’s only $3 for the year and you’ll get told about opportunities first and some of those will be member-only opportunities!
