Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is creating a youth-led campaign that encourages COVID-safe behaviour, increases vaccination and reaches young people effectively. We're recruiting 10 young people to co-design the campaign concepts, campaign strategy and develop campaign materials. You will be given media training and opportunities to share good news stories in your communities.
What does it involve?
We are looking for a diverse group of 10 young people aged between 12 and 25 with interests in public health and/or marketing/media/communications, to participate in workshops and media engagements.
The commitment is approximately 20-25 hours (10 hours co-design workshops, 3 hours media training, and 5-10 hours work outside of meetings) over 2-3 months.
You are expected to attend 80% of workshops or training.
When and where is it?
Workshops will happen every Wednesday after school/work hours on these dates:
- Wednesday 20 October - Introduction + COVID-19 Context
- Wednesday 27 October - Campaign Strategy
- Wednesday 10 November - Key Messages and Creative Brainstorm
- Wednesday 24 November - Content development and planning
- Monday 29 November or Wednesday 1 December - Final shoot
- Tuesday 7 December - Media Training
- Early December - campaign launch
You are expected to attend 4 out of the 5 co-design workshops. Workshops will be held online after-school and after work hours. The shoot is expected to take place in person in COVID-Safe settings.
By co-designing this campaign, your voices and ideas will be elevated in reaching young people and the broader community.
What will you get out of this opportunity?
While this is a voluntary role, you will be reimbursed an honorarium payment of $100 for each workshop ($500 total), and up to $500 for participation in media engagements and shoots.
You must attend 80% of the workshops to be eligible to take part in this opportunity.
You must also be available to attend media training.
As a COVID-19 Youth Ambassador, you will develop skills and experience in developing a campaign and creating content, in a group setting. You will also have the opportunity to meet and work alongside other young people passionate about public health, communication and support Victoria to re-open safely for young people.
You are between 13-25 years old and have an interest in public health and/or communications, marketing, media, or related disciplines. You might be a meme-making machine, know your way around TikTok, or have a strong understanding of good public health engagement.
You're the friend that has convinced friends or family to get vaccinated and/or find reliable information. Or perhaps you’ve helped improve access to COVID-19 vaccinations in your community, or translated COVID-19 related information for your community. You may even have experience running an event or creating social media content on COVID-19 or vaccinations. If any of these sounds like you, then we’d love to have you on board.
