YDAS completed a submission in response to the Senate inquiry into the adequacy of existing residential care arrangements available for young people with severe physical, mental or intellectual disabilities in Australia. This submission focusses on the unmet housing needs of young people with disabilities in Australia. Accessible quality housing, affordable housing, access to tenancy rights on an equal basis with others, choice of where you live and who you live with, separation of tenancy and service provision. A number of these recommendations have since been addressed in part by the implementation of the NDIS as well as the 2017 review of Victorian Specialist Disability Accommodation.
