The text reads: YACVic Youth Participation 201 Workshop

Do you need guidance on recruiting and engaging young people in your programs?

Are the opportunities you’re offering ethical and meaningful?

Is your team ready to embrace working in partnership with all young people?

Youth participation acknowledges that young people are the experts in their own lives and have the right to participate in decisions that are important to them.

At this advanced Youth Participation workshop, you’ll explore ways to create targeted and inclusive engagement and unpick the key principles of youth participation.

What to expect

This interactive session, facilitated by Sam Champion (he/him), YACVic Participation & Development Manager, will engage your passion and fill up your toolbox for effective youth participation.

You’ll walk away feeling motivated by strategies and tips for engaging and empowering young people in the work that you do, strengthen their voices in your organisation, and ultimately in the communities in which they live.

We’ll talk about ways to break down barriers to participation, create targeted and inclusive engagement and ways to recognise and remunerate young people.

Topics we cover

  • Challenges you face when it comes to Youth Participation
  • Moving towards meaningful and genuine inclusion and participation
  • Ethical and Accountable Youth Participation
  • Practical Pathways to Empowerment

Accessibility and Inclusion

At YACVic, we take access and inclusion seriously. If you have a specific access request, would like further information or want to provide any suggestions, we would love to hear from you.

You can email or call us with your access and/or support requirements for this event.

Our work takes place through the lands of the Aboriginal nations within Victoria and we pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Bunjil’s lore states that those who walk on this land must care for the Country and waterways as well as care for the children and young people. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
