Become a member
If you’re a young person (25 or under), student, youth worker, or if you work with young people, are part of an organisation within the youth or community sector, or simply have an interest in youth affairs, we’d love you to join YACVic as a member.
Your membership will help strengthen the work we do for Victoria’s young people. It also ensures that you're part of a state-wide network of individuals, key organisations and agencies driving the policy agenda for young people in Victoria.
Membership also entitles you to a range of benefits, including:
Membership Categories
YACVic aims to have clear membership categories and guidelines that ensure maximum engagement and participation in the organisation from our members.
The Board of Governance have approved the following membership categories:
The Board prescribes the following definitions for each category. Please note membership to YACVic will only be granted under the following categories if the Board is satisfied that the party/s applying agree to YACVic’s vision and objects as listed in the Constitution.
Organisation
A state based or national organisation. Generally these organisations will be not for profit, but it may be that some for profit organisations may seek to join YACVic. If this is the case, the Board will assess on a case-by-case basis their eligibility.
These members have full voting rights within YACVic. These members can join the Policy Advisory Group and (if age appropriate) the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can nominate for the Board of Governance.
Local Government Body
Any LGA within the state of Victoria.
These members have full voting rights within YACVic. These members can join the Policy Advisory Group and (if age appropriate) the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can nominate for the Board of Governance.
Individual (not concession)
Any individual who seeks to join the organisation as an individual, not representing any organisation or group.
These members have full voting rights within YACVic. These members can join the Policy Advisory Group and (if age appropriate) the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can nominate for the Board of Governance.
Individual (concession)
Any individual who seeks to join the organisation as an individual, not representing any organisation or group. These individuals must be holders of a Healthcare card or other concession card deemed satisfactory to the Board.
These members have full voting rights within YACVic. These members can join the Policy Advisory Group and (if age appropriate) the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can nominate for the Board of Governance.
Individual (young person)
Any individual who seeks to join the organisation as an individual, not representing any organisation or group. These individuals must be under the age of 26 at the time of seeking membership to YACVic.
These members have full voting rights within YACVic. These members can join the Policy Advisory Group and the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can nominate for the Board of Governance.
Life Member
The Board can decide to award life membership to any long standing volunteer, member or past staff member of YACVic. The Board will make life membership decisions on an annual basis before the AGM. Life members do not pay membership fees.
These members have full voting rights within YACVic. These members can join the Policy Advisory Group and the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can nominate for the Board of Governance.
Associate Member
This membership category is for state or federal government departments, statutory authorities and current serving members of Parliament and other groups or organisations that the Board deem appropriate.
These members will have no voting rights within YACVic. These members can not join the Policy Advisory Group or the Youth Reference Group of the organisation. These members can not nominate for the Board of Governance.

The Board set membership prices from time to time. These prices will also be updated and circulated through our membership brochures.
