Congress 08 – a great success

Over 60 students attended Congress 08 and enthusiastically embraced their opportunity to represent their peers and call for increased support for SRCs in Victoria. The Congress also passed resolutions concerning rural disadvantage, global poverty and making schools more environmentally sustainable. On the second day 19 students were elected to form VicSRC Executive charged with implementing the Congress resolutions. The exec has met once already and are busy making plans for the next 12 months. A full report on the Congress will be published shortly.

Education Blueprint

Education Ministers Bronwyn Pike and Maxine
Morand recently released a new Blueprint for
Education and Early Childhood Development and held a summit of education stakeholders for public consultation. This time the VicSRC was actually invited to attend, which was a great opportunity to represent student voices at the highest level of educational planning. The contribution of VicSRC student executive members was appreciated by many of the attendees. For a full report on the summit download the July newsletter from the publications page or to see the VicSRC's response to the discussion papers, see our submission below.
