Australian Youth Affairs Coalition: Strategic Direction Survey - 02-03-2010

Contibuted By: Australian Youth Affairs Coalition

AYAC is currently developing a strategic plan, which will assist in directing our work.

To inform the development of this plan we are seeking the feedback of young people and workers from youth organisations in regard to what you see as being the priorities for AYAC over the coming years.

Your views are vital to ensuring that AYAC is a responsive peak body that meets the expectations of our members and acts as an effective advocate for Australia's young people and those who support them.

In addition to being used to assist with the development of a strategic plan this survey is also an opportunity for you to alert AYAC to what you believe are the key areas of policy that AYAC should be working on.

We know your time is valuable so we have made the survey as quick as possible and it should only take you a 10-15 minutes to complete.

We thank you in advance for your time and if you have any questions about this survey or AYAC's work please do not hesitate to contact Craig Comrie, Senior Policy Officer via email policy@ayac.org.au or by phone on 0405 972 978.

Marginalised Young People, Surveillance and Public Space

YACVic and the School of Political and Social Inquiry, Monash University were very pleased to have Dr. Helen Szoke, (Commissioner, Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission) launch a new research report ‘Marginalised Young People, Surveillance and Public Space’ on the 1st of September, 2010. The report examines young people’s perceptions of surveillance and security in inner city Melbourne.

In her speech, Dr Szoke commented:"When I read the report, I was struck by how sophisticated the analysis is, which is in effect what we need when we are dealing with complex issues, where we are trying to address systemic problems with linear instruments."
