Forum on the Economic
Participation of Youth
November 2005: This report outlines the outcomes and actions from
a forum on Young People's Economic Participation. The forum was
hosted by Youth Collaboration in which YACVic is a key partner.
Work continues with the Youth Collaboration group and to keep up
to date with YACVic's work in this area please contact us.

Space Invaders ? Young
People and Public Space
Proceedings report
June 2005: This report documents the proceedings of the Space Invaders?
Young people and public space forum hosted in June 2005 by the Youth
Affairs Council of Victoria in partnership with members of the Public
Space Action Group, a network of organisations advocating for young
people’s equitable access to public space. The forum brought
together young people, youth service providers, academics, representatives
from local and State Government, and other members of the community
sector to explore the issue of young people and public space and
to inform the Public Space Action Group of how to direct its advocacy
efforts.

Snapshots from the
Edge:
Young People and Service
Providers on the Urban Fringe of Melbourne
June 2005: Snapshots from the Edge draws on previous research and
consultations with young people and youth service providers in the
Interface local government areas of Melbourne to paint a picture
of some of the experiences and issues on the urban fringe. The report
focuses on six key issues commonly raised in YACVic's consultations:
planning, infrastructure and the funding of services on the urban
fringe; the accessibility, frequency and cost of public transport;
human service needs on the fringe; the accessibility of mental health
services; housing and homelessness; education and employment.

That Old Chestnut!
The Professionalisation
of youth work in Victoria
March 2004: YACVic has written this discussion paper to provide
an overview of some of the issues related to the professionalisation
of youth work and the establishment of a professional association.
This paper does not present a view in favour of or against the establishment
of a professional body but rather provides an outline of the issues
to stimulate an informed discussion throughout the youth sector
and with other key stakeholders in Victoria.

Respect: YACVic's response
November 2002: Respect is the State Government's youth strategy
which outlines their policy and program priorities in relation to
young people. YACVic’s has produced a comprehensive response to
this document.

Give and Take: The Social
Security System and Young People
This report outlines YACVic's income support forum held February
14, 2002 at Brunswick Town Hall. The forum provided an opportunity
to hear about social security policy and how this policy translates
into practice. Scott McNaughton from the Victorian State Branch
of Family and Community Services presented the Australian’s Working
Together Social Security Package and three young people spoke about
their experiences with the social security system. An afternoon
workshop was also held to allow participants to discuss their issues
and concerns in more detail.

At what cost? The impact of
funding cuts to the FReeZA program 2002
22 January 2002: This report which outlines the results of research
YACVic undertook to identify the impact of the FReeZa funding cuts
across Victoria, including a telephone survey of FReeZA providers.

Racism and discrimination
18 September 2001: YACVic, in conjunction with the Centre for Multicultural
Youth Issues (CMYI), hosted a forum called ‘I’m Not Racist, But:
Combating Racism and Discrimination’. This was held on September
18, 2001 at the Kensington Community Centre. The following is a
