Youth Reference Group
The Youth Reference Group is a practical demonstration
of YACVic's commitment to the participation of young people in the
structures, processes, debates and environments which shape their
lives.
It exists to provide a forum for young people to develop
proposals, campaigns and projects in relation to YACVic's overall
policy. This group also provides advice to the Board about YACVic's
youth participation and consultation processes.
Get involved!
The Youth Reference Group is comprised of between
6-15 members. Every year, around October there is an open call
for nominations which is advertised on this website, in the YACVic
newsletter YiKES! and on the YACVic
email announcement list. You need to be a member
of YACVic to nominate (membership is open to everyone!).
A selection committee set up by the YACVic Board then
decides on YRG membership to ensure that a diverse range of young
people are involved. An exemption under the Equal Opportunity Act
allows membership of this group to be restricted to young people
aged between 12 and 25 years.
The Terms of Reference for the Youth Reference Group
are revised each year and are available upon request.
A report on what the Youth Reference Group has done
over the past year is available in our latest Annual
Report or check out some past
projects YRG members have worked on.
Remember, the Youth Reference Group isn't the only
way to get involved in YACVic. If you'd like to get active give
us a call on (03) 9267 3799 or email us info@yacvic.org.au.
