What is a Children and Young People's Commission?
In June 2001, the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria launched Are you Listening to us? which called for the establishment of a Children and Young People's Commission in Victoria. The Commission would have a unique responsibility for protecting and promoting the rights of children and young people at a state level. It would also have a broad overview of the issues affecting children and young people in government, non-government and commercial sectors.

The model presented in Are You Listening To Us? has received overwhelming support from many organisations and individuals and a broad based community coalition has been established to provide a strategic means with which to further the call for a Children’s Commission.
