MEDIA RELEASE
1 November 2000
Minister's Message
The Victorian Government recognises the important contribution young
people make to our society. As Minister for Youth Affairs, I want to hear
the views of young people, and the views of those working with them. I
want to ensure that youth policies, services and programs are delivered
in a co-ordinated and cohesive way and that they reflect the diversity,
needs and aspirations of young people.
Earlier this year, I was very pleased to re-launch YACVic as the peak
body for the youth sector across Victoria. Representing a diverse range
of organisations and individuals, YACVic is a key source of advice to
Government on the views of young people and those working with them. Our
young people deserve the best policies we can jointly develop and the
best programs and services we can work together to provide.
I will continue to work closely with YACVic to lift the profile of youth
affairs in Victoria and work together in ensuring that young Victorians
are given every opportunity to successfully participate in our society,
achieve their aspirations and live healthy and fulfilling lives.
