The Victorian Youth Mentoring Alliance (VYMA) is the coordinating body for youth mentoring in Victoria. Our vision is for strong, connected Victorian communities where young people have the opportunity to reach their potential through quality mentoring experiences.
Since its establishment in 2005, the Alliance has become accepted as the voice of more than 200 youth mentoring programs in Victoria. Our members represent the entire spread of youth mentoring programs operating in Victoria, with a wide range of focus and settings.
We provide leadership and expertise to promote the growth and strength of the sector, including a mix of support, resource development and capacity building.
Up to 40,000 young Victorians have benefitted from mentoring over the past decade. Victorian youth mentoring programs are diverse and may have a focus on social and emotional wellbeing, employment and education, crime prevention, culture and faith, or youth leadership. Mentors are usually volunteers and provide support, advice and companionship.
